Experience

I received my B.A. (History major with a Mathematics minor) and M.A. in Museum Studies from GWU. During my undergraduate studies, I focused on American history blended with intellectual history, graduating Magna Cum Laude. My thesis earned me departmental honors. My graduate emphasis was development and design of exhibitions, as well as American Studies. As a member of AmeriCorps, I taught and ran a District of Columbia after school program. I helped students improve literacy and overall academic skills, and learn to enjoy reading. I also taught at the National Building Museum. I have also done programming for several museums. I tutor U.S. History, World History, and Writing, generally and for standardized tests such as the ACT and PSAT, English, Grammar, math through the junior high school level, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2. My goal is to share my love of learning with students, and to help them understand their own learning processes and how they can best manage difficult subject matter and obstacles. I love to read, particularly literature, history, and philosophy. I also like to spend time outside, hiking or kayaking, and have an interest in baking and cooking.
